Inspired by Winslow Homer's 1879 painting of the same view, this painting examines Singing Beach, a place I hold dear, through an art historical lens. Although Homer's version focused on female figures and was a social commentary, I chose to paint from the same vantage point, focusing on the simple beauty of ancient rock formation known as Eagle Head. This outcropping looks much the same as it would have in 1879 but the world and terrain around it have changed drastically.
